Rice Basics


  • 1 cup: Rice
  • 2 cups: Water
  • 1: teaspoon salt
  • 1: teaspoon oil

To cook most rices, you slightly less than 2 parts water for 1 part rice. Some rices need to be rinsed before cooking to remove excessive starch powder (which makes your rice… starchy!)

Bring water to boil, add salt and oil, bring to low minimum heat, add rice, stir well and cover for 15 to 20 minutes.

Test rice consistency after 15 minutes. Fluffy = Good!

Portions:
As side dish: ¼ cup rice per person
As main dish: ½ cup rice per person
